Who am I?
This website is owned and operated by Tom Albrighton, a professional copywriter, editor and author based in the UK. Tom Albrighton can be reached at email@example.com.
What personal data do I collect?
When a visitor to this website leaves a comment on a blog post, the website collects the data shown in the comments form, and also their IP address and browser user agent string to help with the detection of spam comments.
I will never collect your email address from any submitted comments nor will I add them to an email list, such as a newsletter or marketing email list, unless otherwise requested. I will never sell email addresses to third parties.
When you fill out a contact form on www.tomalbrighton.com, I only receive the information you enter into the contact form. When you submit the form, that information is automatically sent to my email address. I will only keep that information for as long as necessary to address your query.
Email addresses sent to me via the contact forms are never used by me for any purpose other than to reply to your query. I will never sell information from contact forms to any third parties.
As with the majority of other websites, I collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files includes your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit my site (such as Chrome or Safari), the time of visit and which pages you visited throughout this site.
As you use this website, I use data collection technology called Google Analytics, which collects certain information about your device, browsing actions and patterns. This includes information such as your rough geological location, how you use the website, and communications between your computer and www.tomalbrighton.com. Data will also be collected regarding the type of computer you use, your internet connection, your IP address, your operating system and your web browser.
The data is only collected for statistical purposes. I do not collect personal information. The purpose of this data is to improve this website.
Who do I share your data with?
I do not sell or share your data with anyone. I do use a third-party email provider to store your email address if you have voluntarily signed up to an email newsletter.
How long do I keep your data?
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
If a user has registered on this website, I also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information (with the exception of their username, which cannot be changed). Website administrators can also view and edit that information.
What rights do you have over your data?
If you have an account on www.tomalbrighton.com, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data held about you. You may also request that I delete any personal data held about you. This does not include data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Where do I send your data?
Visitor comments may be checked via an automatic spam detection service.
